A sculpture by Nora Aurrekoetxea, a participant of ART Situacions III, is among the works acquired by the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum and the Ministry of Culture within the framework of ARCO 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In an effort to support new creative generations and foster a more inclusive environment in the art world, the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum and the Ministry of Culture have made a significant investment of over 553,000 euros in acquiring 30 works from 22 artists, 17 of whom are women. These works, all from ARCO 2024, reflect the commitment of both institutions to enrich their collection with pieces that represent innovation and diversity in contemporary art. Among the acquisitions is the work of Nora Aurrekoetxea, “Kurba (ballena beso baile),” which symbolizes a deep exploration of contemporary themes through sculpture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This approach shows the Reina Sof\u00eda Museum’s clear intention to increase the presence of women in future collection presentations, emphasizing the importance of building an artistic legacy that fully embraces diversity and equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inclusion of “Kurba (ballena beso baile)” in the collection not only highlights the originality and relevance of Aurrekoetxea’s artistic proposals, a participant of ART Situacions III, but also marks a significant step towards consolidating an artistic space that values and promotes a wide variety of perspectives and experiences. About the artist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nora Aurrekoetxea, born in Bilbao in 1989, stands out in contemporary Spanish art. With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country and a Master’s in sculpture from the Royal College of Art in London, funded by a Bot\u00edn Foundation scholarship, her work is recognized for its multidisciplinary approach. She explores themes such as identity and social dynamics through sculpture, installation, and performance. Her pieces, delving into emotions like violence and love, showcase a deep psychological and linguistic understanding, making her a pioneering voice in art. Currently residing in the Netherlands to further develop her art at the Rijksakademie, Aurrekoetxea continues to expand her influence on the global art scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
