With these drawings, which he often converts into mural pieces on a monumental scale, he weaves stories that are possible, fictionalised, treated with black humour, that eventually allow a glimpse of conflicts that we can find in any construction of urban collectivity.<\/p>\n<p>The Funhouse is an installation that simulates a hall of distorting mirrors similar to those that we find in funfairs. Unfolding in its interior is an ambiguous representation of characters undergoing a collective catharsis, which would be like the reflections of the spectators in the exhibition hall itself. Through this artistic drawing, digitally manipulated and augmented to a life-size scale, the artist places us before an existential space jammed with a series of uncontrolled actions by the protagonists trapped inside a parodic reverberation of mirrors that accentuates the drift of the scene. In this work the artist makes an implicit reference to the behavioural receptivity at the heart of contemporary art, taking the museum itself into a state of alienation where director, visitors and all that it contains, charge into a game of deformed languages and deceitful realities.<\/p>\n<p>The installation Les portes (Lleida) proposes another form of urban meta-narrative. Through a very broad archive of photographs of facades of buildings in Lleida, the artist makes up covers of publications that work like small architectures by permitting access to the same number of interiors of houses in the same city, through images taken from property sales and rental websites. Francesc Ru\u00edz transfers, thus, the spectator to a handmade maquette of the city that each can visit and manage, creating their own route, putting into practice a kind of random voyeurism through the interior of hundreds of home scenarios that show the close (and simultaneously inevitable) particularities that arise in a single collectivity to which they belong. An apparently casual act, like someone browsing a record or comics shop and thumbing through the contents, or, in this case, the remains of a vulnerable property market pushed with impunity into a nosedive by the recent economic and speculative situation. A political sense of the open account that constructs a liquid subjectivity, one which offers as many possibilities for subjection as subtexts, allowing the changing adoption of a relevancy and in turn of its contrary. Like in an open-minded citizen on an urban tour, the concentric nature of sub-cultural focuses is broken through their analogy, the alternative enjoyment of each of the options at his disposal: the same that the style of cultural tales about the Bible dismantle and reposition in their content over and again in an infinite exegesis. What is disturbing is that possibility that is interchangeable with another: his narrative delivers the assuaging possibility of diversity. La instalaci\u00f3n es como una maqueta plegada de la ciudad de Lleida en la que partiendo de la estructura b\u00e1sica de una publicaci\u00f3n, las portadas han sido sustituidas por puertas, las cabeceras por diferentes elementos gr\u00e1ficos existentes en las calles de Lleida y los interiores por fotograf\u00edas de viviendas de la ciudad extra\u00eddas de lo que denomino herramientas ciber-geogr\u00e1ficas tangenciales, como pueden ser las webs de venta y alquiler de pisos. Al enfrentarse a la pieza, el espectador se encuentra ante una nueva versi\u00f3n de la ciudad en la que la linealidad del recorrido urbano se interrumpe permiti\u00e9ndole saltar de un lugar a otro de la ciudad f\u00e1cilmente, pasar de una puerta a otra y penetrarlas para saber c\u00f3mo son los interiores de las viviendas de Lleida y c\u00f3mo estos son modelados por sus habitantes. La pieza hace referencia asimismo a la coyuntura actual del sistema econ\u00f3mico espa\u00f1ol y a la crisis del sector inmobiliario, y bajo esta \u00f3ptica la pieza parece una especie de mercado de saldos inmobiliarios en el que los propietarios han sido sustituidos por bancos, cajas, aseguradoras e instituciones de todo tipo, y esto se contrapone a algunos elementos transgresores del paisaje urbano como el graffiti o el p\u00f3ster agitprop, que no hacen sino remarcar qui\u00e9n posee la ciudad y qui\u00e9n posee a los ciudadanos. El espacio se cubre de vi\u00f1etas de gran tama\u00f1o que tambi\u00e9n asumen la funci\u00f3n de espejos deformantes, como en la sala de espejos de una feria. Estas vi\u00f1etas-espejo se reflejan las unas a las otras creando una mise en ab\u00eeme que muestra un grupo de personajes que parecen tomar parte en un ritual cat\u00e1rtico. Los personajes se expresan a trav\u00e9s de bocadillos de texto que tambi\u00e9n reaccionan a la f\u00edsica de los espejos, invirti\u00e9ndose y deconstruyendo el lenguaje y la escritura. La obra cuestiona el lugar y el estatus del espectador desvelando su pathos reprimido, enfrent\u00e1ndolo a una realidad molesta y a su rol dentro de la instituci\u00f3n del arte. A su vez, la pieza vincula c\u00f3mic y arquitectura en una tradici\u00f3n que la relaciona con las instalaciones de espejos de Pistoletto o los pabellones de cristal de Dan Graham.
